Time to Act!
On 6 March 2014 in Brussels, the Women2020 platform celebrated a major milestone in its activities of the past year. On this day, we announced formal release of “Time to Act,” the Women2020 Action Plan for promoting women’s contribution to achieving the Europe 2020 Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The report includes a cover-letter from European Commission President José Manuel Barroso and contains conclusions and recommendations taken directly from the five high-level Women2020 meetings that took place in 2013.
The Women2020 Action Plan release dinner, hosted by DIGITALEUROPE, was attended by key supporters and partners of the Women2020 dialogue who enjoyed a keynote by Ms. Jane Griffiths, Chairman of Janssen EMEA, a welcome address from Mr. John Higgins, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE, and a Women2020 partner update by Ms. Marie-Laurence Demousselle from Female Boardpool Belgium.
The 6 March gathering was also the occasion to celebrate International Women’s Day 2014 and official launch of the Digital Leadership Institute, a new Brussels-based NGO, successor to Zen Digital Europe, and the organisation behind Women2020, whose mission is to bridge the gender gap and digital divide worldwide by educating and empowering female digital leaders of today and tomorrow.
